Construction 2: Our Post-Production Kit

After we had shot our footage, we used our post-production kit to organise our shots and place them into our sequence. We would not have been able to achieve this without some important components of our kit.

Hardware:
  • A 16 GB desktop computer
  • 2 BenQ G2420HDBL monitors
Software:
  • Adobe Premiere Pro - our primary program for editing and arranging shots
  • Adobe After Effects - our secondary program for adding special effects such as gunshots
Adobe Premiere Pro was a great choice for editing software. The interface allowed us to work with multiple sequences at once, meaning that we could constantly refer to our rough edit or make any changes in a new sequence if we were unsure of whether they would work. We were able to create our titles on Adobe Premiere Pro as well, which meant that we could keep everything in a contained work space rather than having to transfer files all the time. Lastly, we were able to edit the quality of our shots easily using the different video effects available to us; the most important of which being ProcAmp.

Adobe After Effects was also a good choice for editing. The synergy between Premiere Pro and After Effects meant that we were able to save the special effects added in After Effects straight into our sequence on Adobe Premiere Pro. This saved us a lot of trouble as it meant that we didn't have to constantly replace the old scene after a change was made.
